There's One in Every Family
There truly is “One in every family.” If you think about your own family for just a minute we all have those “special” people. In our family, just like yours, we definitely have them, and they are who make us what we are. We come from all different walks of life and backgrounds, but we have at least one thing in common — we are all part of the Helen Keller family. So whether you are the “know it all,” “the neat freak,” “the cool head in a crisis,” or even “the sleepy head,” you are family. And at Helen Keller Hospital, we make it our business to be very good at taking care of your family.
The one that always has your back.

The ones who pull the all nighters
Steven Snyder, MD & Lisa Christian, MD • Keller's OBGYN Doctors
Dr. Steven Snyder was in medical school when his wife was pregnant with their first child. He went with her to her appointments and enjoyed so much watching this child grow that he knew what he wanted to do with his life- become an OBGYN. He said, "Pulling the all-nighters fit with his routine anyway, because he stayed up studying… sometimes through the night."
Helen Keller had the smaller home town feel he was looking for, but offered all the best in up to date equipment. It allowed him to perform the advanced procedures he had worked hard to learn, such as minimally invasive surgery and high risk obstetrics.
Dr. Snyder especially likes the fact that he can get to know his patients in a personal way. They are never just a number. They are friends and family.
Dr. Lisa Christian has been an OBGYN for over 17 years. While in medical school she remembered her professor asking them, "What type of patient do you want and what is important enough for you to lose sleep over at 2:00 in the morning" Dr. Christian said she decided then, that if she was going to pull an all-nighter, it would be to deliver a baby.
She was from out west and she and her husband decided to move back closer to his home town of Tuscaloosa, AL for more opportunities to fish and have land and of course enjoy some great football. She said after watching Muscle Shoals - the Movie, it sealed the deal.
